Victorian Mortgage Deed
An original Victorian mortgage deed dated 21 May 1875, relating to property in Norwich, with beautifully executed period calligraphy and later legal transfers recorded through to 1886.
Shown for interest only — not available to purchase online.
More than a legal document, this deed preserves a small piece of Victorian Norwich. Beginning with a mortgage in 1875, its handwritten entries record subsequent transactions concerning the property over the following decade. The elaborate script and surviving names turn an everyday legal transaction into a tangible record of people, property and life in 19th-century England.
